Bilingual: Yes Description: This is a 55-card set of double-sided cards with a colorful picture on one side, with the word in Spanish and English. On the other side is the letter with which that word begins. For each letter there are two cards, one with the upper-case letter on the reverse side, and the other with the lower-case letter (with the exceptions of “ch”, “ll” and “ń”, for which there are only one card). In addition, there is a card with parental suggestions on how best to use this set of alphabet cards to effectively teach letter recognition and sound/letter correspondence. Our Comments: This is an excellent set of flashcards with which to teach the alphabet. The manufacturer suggests their use from the age of three years, because the cards are not laminated and do have pointy corners; however, if the parent holds the cards for the younger age groups (or laminates them), they can be used to teach the letters and sound/letter correspondence to much younger children. The nice thing about this set is that it includes 2 pictures for each letter, and both upper and lower-case versions, allowing for many matching-type games to be played (e.g., match the 2 pictures that start with the same sound, match the picture to the letter it begins with, etc.). |
