In this one, every page presents a letter, including ‘ch’, ‘ll’, and ‘ń’. Each page has the letter written, and a word that begins with that letter in both English and Spanish (not an easy feat!). For each letter and word there are colorful illustrations of that animal or object (for example, airplane, ball, crayon, chimpanzee, etc.). Our comments: The alphabet / El alfabeto is perfect for very young children in households where the families want to expose their children to Spanish or where the households are fully Spanish speaking. This book can be used to teach vocabulary, by teaching the names of each animal or object, as well as the alphabet and sound of each letter in both languages. And even with very young children, it is helpful for them to see the word in Spanish if that is what is being read, as they are already making connections between sounds and pictures and forms of the words they see. |
