Each page has intricate color illustrations on each page that bring to life the culture and times of these stories. Included are five classic Arabic stories from the Thousand and One Nights collection: Sherezade, Aladino y la lámpara maravillosa, Las aventuras del Califa, and Simbad el marino. Our Comments: While there are other collections of tales from the Thousand and One Nights, this one is nice for its thick pages that don’t tear easily and its very portable size, as well as the economical price. The stories are narrated with ample text, and yet are told in relatively simple language that is not too complicated for children on the younger side of the recommended age range. Another nice aspect of this series of books is that almost every page is illustrated, covering nearly every event in the tale. This makes it possible for children to understand and relate better to these stories from a time and place so unlike our own. |
