Description: Pipo is a boy who guides us through several scenes (a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, a farm, the garden, a park, a classroom, etc.), and in each scene the objects are named when clicked on, with the word for the object shown. In each scene there is one hidden game that is unique to each scene (for example, identifying the animals by the sounds they make, finding the letters as they are named, a memory game, etc.) Also with each scene, several other games remain constant but change slightly in accordance with the scene. These include a coloring game, a counting game (1-10), a typing game, and two reading games. The writing can be changed at any point between upper and lower-case forms.
System Requirements for Windows:
· 486 or higher with 8 MB of RAM and 15 MB free space on the hard drive.
· Graphic card Super VGA (640 x 480, 256 colors)
· Sound card compatible with Sound Blaster
· Mouse
· CD Rom drive 2X speed or higher
· MS-DOS 5.0 or higher
· Windows 3.1 or higher
Our Comments: Although there is software with more sophisticated graphics, the Pipo series is truly fun and educational. In addition to being ideal for native speakers, this Pipo software is also perfect for children who have been exposed to some Spanish but are still beginners. Pipo speaks very slowly and clearly and is easily understood, which is often difficult to find in software games. The range of recommended ages is wide (2 to 7 years), because the naming of vocabulary is appropriate for the youngest of children as well as older Spanish learners, while the reading and counting games are appropriate for the older children. This game receives very high recommendations for children who are learning Spanish, as well as children who already speak Spanish.
